YOUTH & GOVERNMENT

Youth & Government offers high schoolers a hands-on leadership experience in State Government, aiming to empower them to impact their community. Whether teens aspire for change, seek connections, or crave fun, YAG is a perfect fit. Youth and government fosters critical thinking, networking, teamwork, and self-esteem. The program starts with the students preparing to present their case, where students convene and enact as state legislatures in a mock state government. From legislators to journalists, it offers diverse roles, including elected positions. By immersing teens as decision-makers, YAG not only educates them on the world’s workings but also nurtures their ability to create genuine change.

CHRISTIAN VALUES CONFERENCE (CVC)

The YMCA Christian Values Conference (CVC) unites teens nationwide, fostering fellowship and individual development. Guided by the spirit of John 17:21, “that they all may be one,” CVC’s committed adult and teen leaders prioritize teens’ spiritual, mental, and physical growth. We strive to cultivate a diverse, uplifting environment, offering active steps in spiritual progression, imparting positive life skills, to help teens build a healthy spirit, mind and body.

TEEN MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCE HUB

The NC Alliance of YMCAs’ Teen Mental Health Resource Hub provides critical support for teens and families navigating mental health challenges. As mental health concerns, including depression and suicidal thoughts, rise among North Carolina teens, the hub promotes early intervention and offers educational resources on managing emotions, coping strategies, and seeking help. It highlights the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities, such as LGBTQ+ youth, and emphasizes destigmatizing mental health through accessible resources, crisis support, and tips on stress management, academic pressures, and relationships.
